Let me introduce myself. I'm Monique, Steph's other half. The other half that weighs in at a cool 279lbs, and allowed my bad habits to help her get to the healthy weight she is now (If she wants to share her #, that'll be on her blog). Anyway...
You may be asking yourself why is my blog any more inspiring then any other "I'm going to lose weight" blog out there? It's not, but I need a diary to hold me accountable, and more importantly to look back at and say, holy hell I did it and this was my journey. If others read and learn from it, then Amen.
So, I have these two amazing people in my life that have guided and molded me into this loving, funny, loud Puerto Rican that am. That's my grandparents. Not that my mom & dad didn't help, obviously they played a big part, but there is something about my grandparents (whom I call mommy & pa) that just makes me want to try a little harder. Anywho, I'm going to Vegas in July (I know, July seriously? A fat girl will melt) and it's to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and mommy's 80th birthday. My whole life I've listened to them comment on my weight and in the most loving way possible, try to convince me to lose the extra pounds. I did at one point, when I was 19. I got down to a normal persons size 12, and that may not seem like much to you, but to me that was gold. I could go into any store and pick up a size 12 and KNOW that it was going to fit. It was AMAZING! Are you asking yourself well, if it worked so well why not do it the same way again? Here's why...I Atkins and vomit my way to that size. Yup. If I slipped from the Atkins diet way of life, I threw it up. Fun.
That was the hardest thing I ever did. No, not the throwing up, but trying to stay at that size 12. What made it the hardest was everyone around me so excited that I was finally in Wonderland (ya know, into the 100lb range) and looked so good. I would also go to the gym twice a day and spend 2-3 hours there. I was unhealthy. Thinner, but just as unhealthy.
Back to my grandparents...so I ask myself what would my grandparents love to have on their 60th anniversary? To see a healthy me I decided. So, that is my motivation. How am I going to achieve that? Read Steph's blog here. Why repeat what you may have already read? So after a LONG story, this is the conclusion. I want to go to Vegas at the healthiest and leanest I've ever been, but doing it the RIGHT way. I have the goal outfit picked------> Now to actually fit in it.
